Update on BB

I have been meaning to update on BB all week. You see how that's gone.

Recap--the MRI was last week. We were supposed to get results on Wednesday. They didn't call. We called. The doctor didn't work on Wednesday. We were supposed to get results Thursday morning. They didn't call. We called. She hadn't had a chance to look at the results yet. They were supposed to call us Thursday afternoon. They finally did. They told us to return to their office on Monday at noon and she would discuss the results with us. The nurse said the film didn't look bad. It just looked like a bone contusion.

So...we went back Monday. Our appointment was at 12:00--we sat for 3 1/2 hours--only for the doctor to walk in and ask us things that made us question if she even remembered who we were or what we were there for. She hadn't even read the MRI yet, so she excused herself to do that.

Results--unknown. There is "something" in his knee. In his growth plate. You can see it clearly. What that thing is, we are not sure. They are not sure. The doctor thinks it is a tiny piece of bone that has been covered in cartilage. Not uncommon, but it is uncommon to find this in a child's growth plate. She is 70% sure of her diagnosis. She performed, yet another, x-ray to make sure what ever it is hasn't grown since last time. No growth. Because this "something" is located in his growth plate, we don't want any surgery. Surgery could cause more damage. So, unless it proves to be an infection we will not have to venture down that road. The doctor wanted us to go next door to the hospital and get a CT scan done. We declined. Basically, because at that point we had already missed lunch and it was dinner time, we were tired of the attitudes and run around we were getting at that office, and BB was exhausted with being trapped in the small exam room.

So--here we are. We were HIGHLY frustrated after Monday's office and vowed to never return to that office again. We have since contacted our pediatrician, whom we adore, and updated him. He suggested we have the CT scan done in town and then send the results to the doctor in Lville. He said for us not to return to their office, but to insist that they call us with the results. If not, he will take care of it for us. Then, if any further investigation needs to be done he will send us to Vanderbilt.

BB seems to be making some improvements. He is no longer waking up in the middle of the night with intense pain. His limping has reduced. For the past several weeks he has declined climbing the steps with Big Daddy in the afternoon to get LB--mainly because of the pain it causes him. Big Daddy told me this morning that BB has walked with him a few times this week. So, that's an improvement in our eyes.

God is good. All the time. In good and bad. I'm glad He is still on his throne.
