We survived Christmas. All 6 of them. We opened gifts, loaded and unloaded the car, stuffed our bellies, laughed, and went days on end without naps until we couldn't stand one more second of it.
We were officially Christmased-out.
I caught some much needed time alone on Christmas day night and took down the decorations. It was sweet fun while it lasted, but I was ready to get back to normal around here.
The boys had a big ole' time. Keeping with our family tradition, each boy received 3 gifts from Santa, just like Jesus received 3 gifts from the wise men. We adopted this tradition 3 years ago on William's first Christmas in hopes of keeping ourselves from going overboard with gifts each year and as a reminder of the precious baby who was born to save us. Each boy got a book and a cute little outfit. Wade got a farm playhouse and William got a big boy bike.
The boys also received 5 smaller gifts from us and we let them open one gift each night for the 5 nights leading up to Christmas day. You know I love themes, so their gifts were themed each night. One night they both opened new Bibles, one night they each got bath toys, a DVD night, a craft night, and a night where they exchanged gifts to each other. It was sweet and so much fun. We enjoyed spreading out the fun instead of being overwhelmed by opening all of the gifts in one day.
We kept it small. But, our families??? Oh, they didn't!!! They lavished our boys with sweet, thoughtful, and fun gifts.
We have spent the last couple days cleaning out, reorganizing, and finding homes for all of their new stuff. It has been a difficult task, even for an organization freak like me :)
Thank you to all of our family members for making this an exciting and memory filled Christmas season.
