Retired

Day 3 of BB week

Both sets of my precious grandparents live in Mississippi. All four are still living. My children have no idea how blessed they are to get to know these amazing people. We went for a long overdue visit during spring break last week. (Don't even get me started on the 3 hour 45 minute drive...that's another post, I promise.) We had so much fun just enjoying the company, relaxing a bit, and playing with our boys.

The following conversation happened at our first stop, my paternal grandparents' house:

BB: "Is that what Apaw wears to school?"

Me: "Apaw doesn't go to school, honey."

BB: "He doesn't? Does he go to work?"

Me: "Nope. He's retired. Retired means you have worked a lot of years and you don't have to work anymore. You get to stay home."

BB: "I want to be retired."

ME TOO!!!!!

Next stop, my maternal grandparents where this came up:

BB: "Does Giegaw go to school?"

Me: "No."

BB: "Does she go to work?"

Me: "No."

BB: "Is she retired, too?"

Me: "Yes. Giegaw and Popaw are both retired."

BB: "Is EVERYBODY in Mississippi retired?"

LB footnote: I am pleased (and slightly embarrassed) to announce that LB is now off his bottle (don't judge!!!!). He came down with a little tummy issues (exploding in his diaper if you must know), so we had to take him off dairy for a couple of days until the issue could be resolved. Seemed like a good time to stop with the morning bottle. I can't bring myself to throw out the formula, rice cereal, or put the bottle away yet. He's my BABY!!!!!
